Eastlink expanding New Brunswick mobile network

Canadian cable and cellular operator Eastlink has announced plans to invest CAD26 million (USD20 million) to expand its mobile network in New Brunswick, aiming to 'bringing more choice and competition to mobile customers' in the northern part of the province. Taking place 'over the next couple of years the project will expand existing coverage from Shediac to the Miramichi in 2022, followed by Bathurst and the Acadian Peninsula. The expansion will involve the addition of 'the most advanced network technologies as well as increasing the company's retail presence to more communities, its press release disclosed.

Eastlink has invested more than CAD270 million since its mobile network launch in 2013 to grow its mobile service into more Canadian communities including Saint John, Fredericton, Shediac and Sussex in New Brunswick, highlighting simple pricing plans with rollover data, contract buyout offers to enable easy network switching, 'worry-free data' features and zero down-payments on phones. Most recently, the company invested CAD27.9 million on 3500MHz spectrum licences to enable 5G deployment. Eastlink operates in seven provinces across Canada, including six provinces with a mobile network presence.
