Francois-Philippe Champagne, Canada's Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, has announced the decision to open the 6GHz band, providing an additional 1,200MHz to triple the licence-exempt spectrum available for Wi-Fi with the aims of boosting competition, rural connectivity and the effective deployment of Wi-Fi and 5G technologies.
