Shaw Business – part of cableco Shaw Communications – announced on 7 March 2019 the availability of 1Gbps (download) internet speeds for B2B customers across Western Canada alongside upload speeds of up to 125Mbps 'in select areas'. In addition, from the same date business customers on eligible Shaw Business Internet and SmartWiFi 150 and 300 plans had their download speeds doubled to 300Mbps and 600Mbps, respectively. The announcement arrived a few weeks after Shaw had doubled internet speeds for its most popular consumer cable broadband plans. The upgraded services were made possible by the introduction of the Hitron DOCSIS 3.1 cable broadband modem and Shaw's investments in the quality and capacity of its fibre network.
